SALSA^® FFPE Solution (SFS) is used to extract DNA from formalin-fixed paraffine-embedded (FFPE) tissue samples. The SFS is combined with a simple method, the one-tube FFPE extraction method, that was developed and published by MRC Holland. The method produces crude tissue lysates suitable for direct use in conventional MLPA reactions.

The SFS solution and extraction method have the following advantages:

• No deparaffinization step with xylene is required.
• All steps are performed in the same tube.
• High DNA yield.
• Low-cost reagents.
